2010 Toyota Recalls

On January 21, 2010, Toyota® Motor Sales (TMS) recalled 2.3 million cars and trucks in the US on January 21 after finding a part defect that could cause accelerator pedals to stick, leading to unintended acceleration. Similar defects in Toyotas have been linked to at least 19 deaths over the last ten years. This is the most pressing auto safety issue since reports surfaced in 2000 that Ford Explorers had faulty Firestone tires. Those tires that had been linked to at least 134 deaths.

The models affected in this recall include the Corolla®, Camry®, Avalon®, Highlander®, Matrix®, RAV4®, Sequoia® and Tundra®.  Prius® models are also currently being investigated for similar defects.
