Today the New York Times published an expose on Avandia, providing damning evidence that the GlaxoSmithKline drug causes an unnecessary increase in risk of heart failure and heart attacks in its users. During the third quarter of 2009, over 300 deaths have allegedly been caused by Avandia.
GlaxoSmithKline Plc has paid almost $1 billion to resolve lawsuits over Paxil since it introduced the antidepressant in 1993, including $200 million to settle Paxil addiction and birth-defect cases.
